How to move in Amalfi Coast - Part 2: Sita Buses

Moving on the coast, however, can be stressful, especially in Summer, due to the large affluence of tourists, the narrow roads and the high possibility of traffic and queues.
Depending on your needs and your budget there are several options to move freely without stress.

BY SITA BUS

The most used public transportations to travel in Amalfi Coast are SITA buses (you can recognize them from the name on the side of the vehicle, that usually is blue, red or green).
All the coastal cities are well connected by this bus line, which can boast excellent drivers, capable of facing roads that are sometimes winding and narrow, being on the verge of parapets and rocky cliffs. The bus rides are numerous and well distanced (a few hours each from the other).

Note:
In no situation you can buy the ticket directly on the bus. Tickets are easily available at local bars, tobacconists, newsagents and various vending machines. To those who are not in possession of a valid ticket can be imposed a fine in case of checks.

TYPES OF TICKETS

Unicocampania

The "Unicocampania" ticket is an integrated ticket, whose cost varies depending on the time spent on the vehicle. It allows you to travel throughout the Campania region and to use the vehicles of several companies:

In addition, some private transport companies have joined the consortium: Buonotourist, CIAV, CLP (urban service in Caserta), COSAT, DAV Angelino.

You can buy Unicocampania ticket for ANM, EAV and SITA SUD buses by smartphones, but only if  your tour is less than 11 kilometers and if the cost of the ticket is between €1,10 and €1,20. To simplify, here's a list of the tour you can buy via mobile and, following, the purchase process.

Mobile Ticketing - Buying Process


The process is simple and immediate. By downloading the UnicoCampania Mobile app (available for Android and IOS) from Google Play Store, the user is guided through a pre-assembled list of the available lines to choose the required move. Entering in the "buy ticket" section and clicking on "buy with sms" you can select the line for which you want to receive the ticket. In real time, the mobile phone will receive the validated dematerialized ticket - so no obliteration is needed - or, for the funicular services, a QR Code that will allow you to open the turnstiles simply by approaching the phone to the turntable reader. At the cost of the ticket is always added the cost of the request by sms which varies depending on your telephonic operator (costs, terms and info on www.mobilepay.it). In case of verification by the controller, it is enough to show the ticket received by SMS. The SMS sending time is faithful.

Unicocostiera

The "Unicocostiera" ticket is in force in the 20 municipalities of the Amalfi Coast: Agerola, Amalfi, Atrani, Cetara, Marini moorland, Furore, Maiori, Massa Lubrense, Sorrento, Minori, Positano, Piano di Sorrento, Praiano, Ravello, Sant'Agnello, Scala, Sorrento, Tramonti, Vietri sul Mare.
It is an integrated ticket that allows you to travel on the buses and on the trains of SITA SUD and EAV (formerly EAVBUS and Circumvesuviana), whose cost varies depending on the time spent on the vehicle:  
 

To make a 45 minutes tour, you need a ticket with a cost of € 2,20
To make a 90 minutes tour, you need a ticket with a cost of € 3,40
To make a 24 hours tour, you need a ticket with a cost of  € 6,80
To make a 3 days tour, you need a ticket with a cost of  €16,00

CostieraSita

With the "CostieraSita" ticket you can move freely in the cities of Agerola, Amalfi, Atrani, Cetara, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Maiori, Massa Lubrense, Meta di Sorrento, Minori, Positano, Piano di Sorrento, Praiano, Ravello, Sant'Agnello, Scala, Sorrento, Tramonti, Vietri sul Mare for 24 hours since the ticket is obliterated. Its cost is € 8,00 and you must indicate with a pen, in the appropriate spaces, the name and the birth date of the person using it.

#PostoInPiedi

It's the first ticket for busy buses. The "#PostoInPiedi" ticket is available at 50% of the normal ticket cost. It can be used at peak hours when the bus is full and you must to stand in the corridor, not sitting. It can also be used by people who want to surrender their position to seniors and pregnant women.

To those who suffer in a particular way for dizziness is not recommend to use this type of ticket: many tourists are scared by looking at the crags below the road, in some sections.
